China Establishes First National Pole Dance Team

China's first national pole dance team was established in north China's Tianjin Municipality in October 2012, with three female dancers Yi Fan, Song Yao and Cao Nuo and one male dancer Yan Shaoxuan having made the team as a result of their excellent performances at the 2012 China Pole Dance Championship.

According to Yi and Song, the team is currently preparing for the upcoming 2012 World Pole Sport and Fitness Championships to be held in Zurich, Switzerland, on November 10, 2012. They will represent China to compete in individual competitions.

The World Pole Sport and Fitness Championships are the original and ultimate global pole competition and showcase bringing together over 26 countries and featuring the world's best pole performers and athletesin a showcase event, demonstrating sheer physical strength, skill and stamina and individually choreographed routines. Yi set a record for China at the 2011 World Pole Sport and Fitness Championships by entering the top 24 list for the individual competition category. She said that she will incorporate traditional Chinese dance elements to her choreography for this year's championship.
