What’s So Great About Being a Pole Dancer?
Written by: Gina Tann The last few posts have been pretty serious. This one’s just for fun. 🙂 Top reasons it’s awesome to be a pole dancer 1. We travel light! Pole clothes don’t take up much room, and if we’re judicious in how many pairs of shoes we pack, a tiny duffel bag is all it takes. 2. We can put many muscle-bound gym rats to shame with our upper body strength. 3. Sparkles! Glitter! Shoes! Sparkles and glitter and shoes! 4. Other pole dancers are super fun to hang out with. 5. Where else is floor humping considered appropriate behavior – in fact, encouraged??? 6. We carry ourselves with a sexy confidence that’s extremely satisfying. Pole dancer swagger is like no other! 7. The triumph of trying a new move and completely owning it. 8. Our friends are all secretly (or not-so-secretly) envious of our awesomeness. 9. Having a pole dancer’s butt! 10. Getting creative with our bodies in ways that no other dancer or athlete does. 11. No one’s too old, or out of shape, or uncoordinated to start! Top reasons it’s sometimes not awesome to be a pole dancer 1. We have to buy shirts that are at least a size too big so they fit our shoulders and biceps 2. We spend so much time in bra tops and teeny shorts that “civilian” clothes feel so . . . restrictive! 3. There’s always some trick that seems unattainable and is, therefore, extra-desirable and frustrating! (Note: it may not be unattainable—it might not be your time to nail it, but don’t write it off as unattainable!) 4. Bruises. Big ones. 5. Small-minded people. The list of awesome things could go on forever. Comment and add your reason! Gina is a self-proclaimed “pole dork” who loves to scout out new music, dance in ridiculously high heels, and bench press more than many men at the gym. She’s been addicted to pole dancing since the first moment she laid eyes on a pole in 2008 and has been instructing since 2009.
