Is the Pole Dancing Craze Over?
Ummmm….what craze? As far as we’re aware, pole dancing hasn’t been a craze since 2010. According to Dictionary.com a craze is “a popular or widespread fad, fashion, etc.” Well, as mentioned in one of our more recent articles, Where Have All the Pole Stars Gone?, pole is no longer a “fad”. With our third generation of pole dancers on their way to the top, we are past our fad stage and we are here to stay. In the Sydney Morning Herald, Caroline James, asks “Is the sexy dance style once found only in strip clubs – and now a largely mainstream exercise form complete with celebrity fans including US actor Jennifer Aniston – on-the-slide or yet to peak?” While poles are still being sold like crazy, especially in the booming Australian Pole Industry, thousands of “fake” or knock off poles are being sold as well, which means unsafe conditions for pole dancers.
