Pole Dancer Inspires at ‘Talk to the Hand’ Art Exhibition
Talk to the Hand, an art exhibition taking place in Laguna Beach, features several women photographed with a word on their hand. The word that each woman chose represents their journey to empowerment including “released”, “struggle”, “love”, “beautifully flawed” and from Lola Singer, a Californian pole dancer, the word “tenacity”. Lola shared a short story with us on Facebook about a father and daughter who came to see the art exhibit. After seeing Lola’s picture, upside down on a pole with her “tenacity” written on her hand, the little girl was inspired and asked to take a picture with her. The father obliged and Lola told UPA this was, “Sweet confirmation that Pole Dance has arrived legitimately to the mainstream as a powerful art & a respectable athletic sport!” Talk to the Hand art exhibit is taking place at Seven-Degrees in Laguna Beach, California through the end of October and two pieces will be featured at Orange County Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Ana’s Fall exhibition through November 16.
