I started pole only a few months ago after admiring it and being interested for YEARS but never getting started (major regret not starting sooner!) I have been absolutely loving every moment of it even the painful, bruise inducing ones.

When I started my pole journey I was living a very sedentary student life studying fine arts and sociology. Between my art practice and school work, with little else going on, I was starting to drive myself crazy. Though I was excited about how my studies were going I just didn’t feel that happy. I had looked into pole classes in the past but there were no studios close enough to home. Years later, I randomly looked into it again and a studio had opened up only 5 minutes from my house and I knew it was meant to be! I signed up for a 2 week trial and was hooked. I have been going to the studio almost every day and won’t miss it unless i’m truly physically unable to go, it takes a lot to stop me!

I’m so happy now and feel that my life has balance and that the physical and artistic aspects of my pole and aerial practice reflect how I engage with my art practice and studies! My head is more clear, I’m physically stronger and mentally stronger. It feels amazing reaching new goals and feeling my body become more capable.

One of the things I didn’t expect from starting pole was to enter such an amazing community of supportive and talented people! I feel so welcomed and encouraged by everyone I have met whether it’s my instructors and fellow classmates at the studio, or pole dancers I follow online and fangirl over that actually take the time to interact with you! I have often felt like I’m never quite fully in it with various social circles, including those at my art school, but the pole community makes me feel included, important, and uplifted. I absolutely love every aspect of it and admire all the people involved. I’m honored to be a part of it and am thankful to have found my place in such an amazing sport.

Thank you and love you all!
