I am still recovering from last weekends visit at the Bad Kitty Exotic Wear’s headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ.  It was a lovely drive out there, mostly due to the fact that I was accompanied by Mina Mortezaie and Nadia Sharif.  The 6 hours in the car seemed to fly by, as we talked about boys, work and of course, pole dancing.  At one point, we almost ran out of gas!  We were in the middle of the desert, in the dark, with nothing around for miles.  Talk about sweating bullets!  But, alas, there was a gas station, and we made it there safely. Friday night was a full night of partying.  Work hard, party harder, right?  Jack Gaffney and Trisha Stone, owners of Bad Kitty, are two of the funnest people I’ve met in the pole industry, and probably the hardest working too.  The next day, we got Dunkin’ Donuts, and sat around, just relaxing and talking shop in the beautiful warm weather, with a gorgeous view of the mountains and cacti.  Trisha’s brother, Tommy jumped in the pool every 20 minutes, and Chad, family of BK, did body work on the girls, and e-mailed me about 4 books on abs and stretching.  Before we knew it, Vinnie and Joel, owners of Mighty Grip showed up.  That’s when the party really began!  It was really amazing being around such motivated, focused people, and hearing how they talk about our pole dancing industry.  It was an awesome day! There I was, sitting at a table with some of the most innovative, passionate people you will find in our community.  The ideas and conversations were flowing so easily.  I felt privileged to be sitting with these four amazing people, learning from them, and picking their brains about business.  There are things in the works, that these two companies, along with United Pole Artists, will be bringing to pole, to help us all grow and flourish doing what we love most. Besides talking shop, we talked about ourselves, our goals and ideas and lives in general.  There were bottomless mimosas all day, and for some of us, the vodka flowed like a river!  Not long into the evening, and impromptu photo shoot took place, and Mina, Nadia, Lindsey Green and I had samurai swords in hand with bandanas covering our face.  Super gansta!  We finished the night watching the movie “Burlesque” and it was so cute watching Jack get excited over Christina Aguilera’s solo.  He made sure everyone came in from the patio to watch it! I’m looking forward to the next Arizona trip, and spending time with some of the most genuinely caring and thoughtful people I know in the pole industry.  Both Bad Kitty and Mighty Grip want to see us prosper, and care about what we, the pole dancers have to say.  Next time you see Jack, Trisha, Joel or Vinnie, make sure you say hello, shake their hand and know how much they have given us.  Not only do they sponsor events and competitions to help keep us all going, they’re objective to make things better in general, and they do it because that’s just who they are: pretty awesome, very enthusiastic and super fun to party with.   🙂
