Miss Pole Dance Australia, this coming weekend, is Gracie Buntine’s final destination for 2014, and she could not be more pleased to take to the stage for this prestigious 10th anniversary pole dance competition. It comes just a few weeks after this shooting star represented Australia at Kelly Yvonne’s Paragon pole dance competition in Los Angeles, where, although not placing, her performance impressed judges and audience members alike. Having placed 1st Runner Up in last year’s Miss Pole Dance Australia (MPDA), industry insiders are speculating that this just may be Gracie’s year to grab the pole title that turned Felix Cane, Jamilla Deville and Cleo The Hurricane into international pole dance household names. Gracie is one of those few dancers who can successfully convey both a character and an emotion intertwined through her movement. “I love how dancing explores different elements of my personality, and to be honest, when I am developing a piece, I tend to almost transform a little into that character. I know I do that intuitively because when I look back later to a particular piece, I can see the tough confidence or the neediness of a character I was playing,” she explains. Gracie admits that her pole dance training for MPDA has been a little different in the sense that she is listening to her body and mind, and trying to do what is best for it. She has included visualisation in her pole practise time, and focusing on what she really needs to work on, as opposed to running herself “into the ground.” As far as her Saturday night performance goes, Gracie isn’t giving away any hints as to what we can expect, aside from “a whole lot of Gracie Buntine.” Miss Pole Dance Australia on Saturday evening is set to be the biggest MPDA show yet, with exclusive pole dance performances from former MPDA winners.
